backdrops

Here is another great example of theater work. I was working on two tall backdrops for a set.

Voila, Marble Columns

In set design you are seen as a "miracle" painter. They give you cloth, you turn in into wood, they give you plastic and you turn it into marble. That is the magic of faux paiting. Faux painting is the number one request in theaters. Here I was left with four plastic—and practically weightless— columns, which I turned into marble.

Backdrop Facades

These were two theater backdrops imitating building facades. The first one was rather small for theatre dimensions, and I worked on it myself. The second one (second image) was a very large backdrop, and the entire stage design crew was needed to finish it.

Grande, Il Greco!

A theater play had "The Annunciation" painting by Il Greco on stage, and I reproduced it. The picture was taken while I was working on it.
